this definitely isn't the most healthy breakfast in the world, nor is it low calorie. it is however a yummy traditional thomas breakfast!! this is the whole reason i bake homemade bread! i'm not sure when this tradition started, but i do know that my dad's mother made this 3 or more days a week with her yummy whole wheat bread. really it's not worth eating unless you have the good stuff, store bought bread just doesn't cut it! for those of you who aren't thomas' the idea of dipping butter soaked toast in hot cocoa might sound weird, but to me it's comforting, delightful and really makes my tummy sing! i will probably regret starting up this bad habit again, but i can't get enough of it! you would think i could stop at just 4 pieces of toast, but i usually have 8. maybe that's the reason i took a break from making bread! for the farmer's who did manual labor (my dad grew up on a farm), i'm sure that wasn't a problem, but this isn't going to help me get rid of my baby weight!

I remember the days that I'd eat a whole loaf of bread before seminary (~10 pieces or so). These days I save this breakfast for slow weekend mornings when I can savor it. And I usually keep it to 4 pieces anymore but nice work finding room for all 8.
oh man. cocoa, butter, and white bread all glued into one savory taste. nothing is better. NOTHING.
My kids eat "cocoa and toast" now too. Gotta love it!
